Meredith Repasky

3

Meredith Repasky (she/her/hers) works with individuals (adults, children and adolescents), couples, and families. She has extensive experience working with trauma survivors, both children and adults. Meredith views all clients through a systemic lens, meaning that she takes into consideration the couple/family dynamics, generational family history, and other environmental factors in a client’s life. She engages younger clients in play therapy to help them express their feelings and experiences through play, and works with parents to provide information about helpful techniques to use at home. With adolescent and adult clients, Meredith uses a variety of models including Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. When working with couples, she utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman method techniques.

Meredith has a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Polytechnic and State University (Virginia Tech) and is working toward her MFT licensure in Georgia. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business Management from Florida State University. Prior to joining the team at Marietta West Cobb Counseling Center, Meredith worked as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist for a community agency in California. In her role at the agency, Meredith worked with children and families who had experienced trauma (often in the form of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse). She is passionate about helping trauma survivors reclaim their power and voice. Meredith also has experience providing in-home therapy to families in need of support for managing difficult behaviors at home. She has experience working with many diagnoses, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, adjustment disorder, ADHD, and bipolar disorder. Meredith is an ally to the LGBTQ+ population and has worked to create a safe place for client’s to explore their identity.

Regardless of why a person is seeking therapy, Meredith takes a trauma-informed and person-centered approach. She believes that the client/family is the expert on their life and experiences. In Meredith’s view, “Therapy is time for you to reconnect with your own thoughts and feelings, as well as your family’s thoughts and feelings. As a therapist, I am removed from the everyday stressors that you are under, which allows me to see things from a different perspective. I am here to sit with you in your pain, challenge you in your beliefs, and help you find new ways to address problems you are facing.”

Meredith is currently working toward LMFT licensure in the state of Georgia under the supervision of Terri Abraham, MS, LPC, NCC, MAC, CPCS.
